Our Commitment
Kairos is a privacy-first sexual health tracking app. Your data belongs to you. We designed Kairos so that your most personal information never leaves your control. This policy explains exactly what data Kairos handles, where it lives, and what we never do.
Data Storage
All data you enter into Kairos — entries, check-ins, partner details, custom fields, journal notes, and settings — is stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database.
If you are signed into iCloud, Kairos automatically syncs your data to your private CloudKit database. This is a database that only your devices can access. It is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. No one else — not even Apple or the Kairos team — can read your private CloudKit data.
There is no Kairos server. There is no centralized database. Your data exists only on your devices and in your private iCloud container.
Partner Sync
Kairos offers an optional partner sync feature. If you choose to connect with a partner, a limited subset of your data is shared via an encrypted CloudKit shared zone. You control which fields are shared through selective sharing policies.
- Solo entries are never shared with a partner.
- You choose what partnered data fields your partner can see.
- If you disconnect, you can remove your data from your partner's device entirely, or let them keep a copy. Either way, the sync connection ends completely.
HealthKit
Kairos can optionally read data from Apple Health (sleep, workouts, active energy, sexual activity) to show correlations in your Insights dashboard. Kairos can also write sexual activity data back to Apple Health if you enable it per entry.
HealthKit access is requested only when you first interact with a Health feature. Data read from HealthKit stays on your device and is never transmitted anywhere. We follow Apple's HealthKit guidelines and never use health data for advertising or data mining.
Contacts & Location
Kairos may request access to your Contacts to help you quickly import a partner's name and details. Contact data is used only for local display and is never transmitted.
Kairos may request location access to tag entries with where they happened. Location data is stored locally and synced only to your private iCloud container. Location is never shared with partners or third parties.
Both permissions are requested only at point of need — never on first launch.
What We Collect
Nothing. Kairos contains no analytics SDKs, no tracking pixels, no crash reporting services, and no server-side telemetry. We do not collect, transmit, store, or process any of your personal data on our servers, because we do not have servers that receive your data.
We do not know who our users are, how they use the app, or what data they enter. This is by design.
Third Parties
Kairos does not share data with any third parties. There are no advertising networks, analytics providers, data brokers, or external services that receive your information.
The only external service Kairos communicates with is Apple's CloudKit, which is part of your iCloud account and governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Data Retention & Deletion
Your data persists as long as it exists on your device and in your iCloud account. If you delete the app, your local database is removed. If you delete data from your iCloud storage, it is removed from all synced devices.
Because we do not maintain servers or databases containing your information, there is no data to request deletion of from us. You have complete control over your data at all times.
Children's Privacy
Kairos is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect information from children. The app's content and purpose are designed for adults.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify users through the app or our website. Because we collect no data, changes will primarily reflect new features and how they handle information locally.
